A local charity is celebrating after receiving £2,000 from the Sobell Foundation so that they can continue to provide support and work experience opportunities for people with learning difficulties in West Lancashire.
Timesavers provide work experience to local people with learning difficulties by providing an administration service for local voluntary organisations. Timesavers was set up in 2010 by a group of parents to provide work experience for local people with learning difficulties.
Timesavers said: “We are delighted with this very generous donation. People with learning difficulties can struggle to find employment but thanks to the donation, we will be able to continue providing work experience and other opportunities to residents in West Lancashire. We hope our recent funding awards can allow for new opportunities for our participants and allow for the further growth of the charity. We hope that any employer reading this article will come to our assistance by providing unpaid office work experience for one of our clients for just a few hours per week. Your help would be very much appreciated.

Who are Timesavers?
Timesavers was originally set up as a Social Enterprise to provide an Office Administration Service for voluntary sector organisations in West Lancs serving Burscough, Ormskirk, Skelmersdale, Tarleton, Parbold in order to give work experience opportunities for people with learning disabilities who have found it difficult to find paid jobs or work placements in office administration.
On the 28th August 2012 Timesavers were awarded charity status.
This is fantastic news and will enable Timesavers to develop in the future. Well done to everyone involved in Timesavers !
Timesavers has achieved charitable status and has been entered onto the Register of Charities with the Registered Charity Number 1148732.
Bob Walters Training produced a short film about the work Timesavers did in 2011.
You can watch the movie through its website by clicking the link.
Thanks to Edward McCarthy for enabling us to link with the Volunteer England website to view the film.
On Thursday 1st September a film crew arrived at our office in Certacs House. They had come on behalf of the Access to Volunteering Fund to record the activities of Timesavers as we had received money from this fund through West Lancs Positive Living to help start up our Social Enterprise.
As well as filming in Certacs House they visited a Coffee Bar in Parbold where the owners have agreed to sell some of the Greetings Cards we produce. When this short film has been edited and released on the internet we will provide a link on this website.
