Tesco Funding for Timesavers for Timesavers

Dear all,

Some good news regarding Tesco , Timesavers are to be part of the Bags of Help Scheme.

Timesavers can be awarded £1000 or £2000 or £4000 depending on votes.

The funding we would receive would fund:

  • Qualified Sessional support staff costs Amount Requested £3000
  • Mileage and transport costs Amount Requested £1000

If we received a lower amount it would be the same ratio.

Voting is in the Burscough store in March/April. Funding awarded a few months later.

Please vote for Timesavers in store !

Best wishes Edward McCarthy.

Welcome to the Co-op Local Community Fund

The Co-op Local Community Fund helps to support local projects that our members care about. Since its launch in 2017, Co-op members have raised £39 million pounds for over 12,000 local causes. We’re delighted that Sporting Challenge will now be able to access this funding opportunity.

How the fund works

Every time our members shop at the Co-op, 1% of what they spend on Co-op branded products and services helps fund community projects. Members can shop at any Co-op Group stores across the UK to raise money for your cause.

Members can choose which causes to support by signing into their membership account or by calling the membership helpline on 0800 023 4708. Your cause will be available for members to select until November 2019.

Your cause will receive two payments as part of the Local Community Fund. The first payment will be in June 2019 and the last payment in November 2019.

Your cause profile page

Every cause has a page on our membership website. This includes information about your cause and the project you want to complete. To encourage members to support your project, share the following link on social media:

Thomas Wall Trust

Timesavers have been awarded £1000 towards running costs for various sessions from the Thomas Wall Trust.

Thomas Wall II created his Trust in 1920 for the “encouragement and assistance of educational work and social service”. Today, the Trust continues to assist in these areas by providing grants to individuals and organisations.

Edward McCarthy Secretary of Timesavers: “A huge thank-you on behalf of Timesavers. This makes a huge difference.”

Our regular sessions are on-going, the Computer Drop In sessions will start again later in the year.

Timesavers is a charity set up in 2010 by a group of parents who were concerned by the lack of paid jobs or work experience placements in administration for people with learning disabilities in West Lancashire where they could gain their skills in a supportive environment and on a one to one basis if required.

They provide qualified sessional workers who collect them from where they live, support the people whilst they are at the office, then return them home after their training/ work experience. The learners are encouraged to join a local job club and given help to produce a CV and a speculative letter to go with it working in conjunction with Lancashire County Council Employment Support Service.

Our sessions are at our Skelmersdale office or the Computer sessions at Bickerstaffe Four Lane Ends Mission, these will start again later in the year.

Support staff for Timesavers are provided by Linkability (West Lancs) , Divine Days Creative Arts CIC and Edward McCarthy Support Services.
